Morganna’s Exotress: Mallow Plant Exosomes for Thinning Hair and Scalp Health

Hair thinning can feel deeply personal.

It may begin with a wider part, a smaller ponytail, more hair in the shower, or areas of the scalp that suddenly seem easier to see. For some people, these changes appear gradually with age. For others, they become noticeable during menopause, periods of intense stress, illness, nutritional changes, or after years of chemical and heat styling.

Whatever the cause, many hair products focus mainly on the strands we can see. They may temporarily coat the hair, add shine, or make it feel thicker—but healthy-looking hair begins much deeper, at the scalp and around the hair follicle.

That understanding is the inspiration behind Morganna’s Exotress™, an advanced leave-on scalp treatment created to support a healthier scalp environment and improve the appearance of thinning, fragile hair.

At the center of Exotress is an innovative botanical complex that we refer to as mallow plant exosomes and rice protein.

This technology brings together the communication power of plant-derived extracellular vesicles with the strengthening and conditioning benefits of hydrolyzed rice protein. Rather than treating the hair as if it were separate from the skin, Exotress approaches the scalp as living skin that deserves the same level of care, protection, and scientific attention as the face.

Your Scalp Is Skin

We often invest in serums, moisturizers, barrier creams, and antioxidants for the face, yet the scalp is frequently overlooked.

The scalp has a protective barrier. It can become dry, irritated, inflamed, or affected by oxidative stress. When the scalp barrier is not functioning at its best, the environment surrounding the hair follicle may also become less supportive.

This matters because the hair follicle does not work independently. It depends on the surrounding skin, cellular communication, blood supply, and the natural hair-growth cycle.

Exotress was designed to help care for that entire environment.

The supplier research behind the botanical complex reports benefits related to hair density, hair thickness, scalp barrier function, and shine. The ingredient was evaluated at a 3% use level and is described as a synergy between plant stem-cell exosomes and hydrolyzed rice protein.

What Are Mallow Plant Exosomes?

Exosomes, more broadly called extracellular vesicles, are tiny messenger-like structures released by cells.

Their role is communication. They carry naturally occurring materials from one cell to another, helping influence how nearby cells respond to their environment.

In Exotress, the botanical technology is associated with Malva sylvestris, commonly known as mallow. The ingredient’s declared INCI includes glycerin, mallow flower, leaf and stem extract, and hydrolyzed rice protein.

At Morganna’s Alchemy, we refer to this active system in approachable language as mallow plant exosomes and rice protein.

The purpose is not simply to place another botanical extract on the scalp. The technology is intended to support communication within the scalp environment while addressing several biological factors connected with the appearance of healthy hair.

Understanding the Hair-Growth Cycle

Hair does not grow continuously without interruption. Each follicle moves through a repeating cycle.

The anagen phase

Anagen is the active growth phase. According to the supplier presentation, it commonly lasts between two and eight years.

During this phase, the follicle is actively producing hair. The longer a follicle remains in anagen, the more time the hair has to grow.

The catagen phase

Catagen is a short transition or regression phase, generally lasting two to three weeks.

The follicle slows its activity and prepares to enter a resting period.

The telogen phase

Telogen is the resting phase, commonly lasting two to four months. The older hair eventually sheds, and the follicle begins preparing for a new anagen phase.

Some shedding is therefore normal. The concern begins when too many follicles appear to move into the resting or shedding stages, when the growth phase becomes shorter, or when new hairs return finer than before.

The goal of a scalp-supporting formula is not to force the hair into an unnatural process. It is to help create conditions that are more favorable to the follicle’s normal cycle.

How Exotress Supports the Appearance of Fuller Hair

The mallow plant exosome and rice protein complex used in Exotress was studied through several pathways associated with hair-follicle activity and scalp health.

1. Supporting the active growth phase

One of the pathways discussed in the supplier research is the Wnt/β-catenin pathway.

In simple terms, this pathway helps communicate to follicle cells that it is time to become active and enter the growth phase. The ingredient was shown in laboratory testing to activate this pathway and stimulate β-catenin in hair-follicle cells.

For the consumer, this means the formula is designed to support the biological signals connected with active, healthy-looking hair.

2. Helping hair remain in the growth phase longer

The supplier also studied the ingredient’s effect on TGF-β1.

TGF-β1 is involved in moving the follicle away from active growth and toward regression. The active complex was reported to suppress TGF-β1, which may help prolong anagen and delay catagen.

In everyday language, this means helping create conditions that may allow more hair to remain in its active phase rather than moving too quickly toward rest and shedding.

3. Supporting circulation around the follicle

Hair follicles require oxygen and nutrients.

The ingredient was reported to stimulate VEGF, a signaling factor associated with blood flow and follicle-cell proliferation. The supplier explains that VEGF helps increase blood flow to the follicle and support delivery of essential nutrients.

A cosmetic scalp serum does not replace nutrition or medical treatment, but it can be formulated to support a healthier environment around the root.

4. Helping defend against scalp stress

Oxidative stress and inflammation can make the scalp feel uncomfortable and may interfere with the environment surrounding the follicles.

The botanical complex was reported to stimulate HMOX1 and MT1G, genes connected with protection against inflammation and oxidative stress.

This is one reason Exotress is not positioned only as a “hair-growth product.” It is also a scalp-care treatment.

A calmer, better-protected scalp provides a more supportive foundation for healthier-looking hair.

5. Addressing a pathway associated with DHT formation

The supplier research also reports that the ingredient can suppress SRD5A2, an enzyme involved in the formation of DHT.

DHT is often discussed in connection with patterned hair thinning. However, Exotress is a cosmetic scalp treatment, not a drug and not a treatment for a diagnosed medical hair-loss condition.

The importance of this finding is that the ingredient was evaluated across several pathways rather than relying on only one approach.

Why Hydrolyzed Rice Protein Matters

The rice protein in Exotress does more than support the active technology.

Hydrolyzed proteins have been broken into smaller components that can more easily coat and condition the hair. Rice protein can help improve the feel and appearance of weak, fine, or fragile strands.

It may help hair look:

  • Fuller
  • Stronger
  • Smoother
  • Shinier
  • Less fragile
  • More resilient

This creates a two-level approach.

The mallow plant exosome technology focuses on the scalp and follicle environment, while the rice protein helps improve the cosmetic appearance and strength of the hair itself.

That combination is important because people with thinning hair usually want more than a future benefit. They also want the hair they currently have to look and feel healthier.

What the Ingredient Studies Found

It is important to explain these results accurately.

The following studies were performed on the supplier’s mallow plant exosome and rice protein complex at a 3% use level. They were not conducted on the complete Morganna’s Exotress formula. Therefore, they support the selection of the active ingredient, but they should not be presented as finished-product clinical results.

Hair-density assessment

In one study, 12 male panelists applied either a placebo leave-on serum or a serum containing 3% of the active complex to the scalp three times per week for 90 days. High-resolution imaging and a clinical assessment were used to evaluate the results.

After 90 days, the active treatment showed:

  • A 25.4% improvement in hair loss compared with placebo
  • A 39.6% improvement in the anagen-to-telogen ratio compared with placebo

The 25.4% result was reported as statistically significant.

The anagen-to-telogen ratio compares the amount of hair in the active growth stage with the amount in the resting stage. An improvement in this ratio suggests that the scalp had a greater proportion of actively growing hair relative to resting hair.

Scalp-barrier assessment

The scalp barrier was assessed by measuring transepidermal water loss, commonly shortened to TEWL.

TEWL measures how much water escapes through the skin. A high level of water loss can indicate that the barrier is not holding moisture effectively.

In the study, 15 panelists used designated placebo and active shampoo-and-serum treatments. TEWL was measured at baseline, after one week, and after two weeks.

After two weeks, the routine containing the active complex produced a statistically significant reduction in water loss compared with the placebo routine. The reported decrease was 28.3% from the initial measurement, compared with 16.4% for placebo.

This matters because a better-functioning scalp barrier can help the scalp retain moisture, feel more comfortable, and provide a healthier environment around the follicles.

Eyebrow-density assessment

The ingredient was also studied in a leave-on eyebrow serum.

Twenty female volunteers applied either a placebo serum, a 3% active serum, or a 5% benchmark treatment twice daily. Evaluations were conducted after four and eight weeks using high-resolution imaging, specialized analysis, and expert clinical grading.

After eight weeks, the 3% active serum produced:

  • A 14.69% increase in eyebrow density
  • A 9.01% increase in the number of eyebrow hairs

The presentation reports that the active treatment visibly improved eyebrow fullness and density compared with the placebo and benchmark.

A clinical expert evaluation also found a statistically significant improvement in eyebrow appearance after eight weeks compared with both treatments.

While eyebrows and scalp hair are not identical, these findings provide additional evidence that the complex can support the appearance of fuller hair in a leave-on application.

Hair shine and luster

The active was also evaluated in a shampoo on blonde virgin hair tresses.

After one and five applications, instrumental measurements showed that the shampoo containing 3% of the complex improved shine and luster compared with the placebo shampoo. After five applications, the active shampoo produced a reported 16.1% improvement in luster and 34.47% improvement in shine from baseline.

This is especially relevant for thinning hair because dullness can make fine hair look even less dense. Increased shine helps light reflect more evenly from the strands, giving hair a healthier, more vibrant appearance.

Why the Scalp Barrier Is So Important

A healthy scalp barrier is not only about comfort.

The barrier helps hold water inside the skin and keep external irritants out. When it becomes compromised, the scalp may feel tight, dry, itchy, sensitive, or inflamed.

A disrupted barrier can also create an environment that is less favorable to healthy follicle function.

Exotress was therefore created with a broader philosophy:

Do not only ask how to make hair look thicker. Ask what the scalp needs in order to support healthier-looking hair.

That is a meaningful difference.

Temporary volumizers can make strands appear larger for a few hours. A scalp serum is intended for consistent, long-term care.

Who May Benefit from Exotress?

Exotress may be appropriate for adults experiencing the appearance of:

  • Gradual hair thinning
  • Reduced hair density
  • A widening part
  • A thinner-feeling ponytail
  • Increased visible scalp
  • Fine or fragile hair
  • Dry or uncomfortable scalp
  • Age-related hair changes
  • Menopausal or hormonal hair changes
  • Stress-related changes in hair fullness
  • Hair weakened by coloring, heat, or frequent styling
  • Dullness and loss of shine

It is suitable for both women and men seeking a cosmetic, plant-based approach to scalp and hair-density care.

Exotress and Menopausal Hair Changes

Menopause deserves special attention because hair changes during this stage can be emotionally difficult.

As hormone levels shift, many women notice that their hair no longer behaves the way it did before. It may feel finer, grow more slowly, shed more easily, or lose volume around the part and hairline.

At the same time, the scalp may become drier and more sensitive.

Exotress addresses several of these visible concerns at once by helping support the scalp barrier, improve the appearance of density, strengthen fragile hair, and restore shine.

It does not contain hormones and is not intended to alter hormone levels. It is a cosmetic scalp-support formula designed to help women care for the changes they can see and feel.

How to Use Morganna’s Exotress

Consistency is essential with any scalp-care routine.

Part the hair in the areas where thinning is most noticeable. Apply Exotress directly to the scalp rather than coating only the hair.

Massage gently with the fingertips to distribute the serum.

Do not rinse.

Use according to the directions printed on the Exotress packaging. For best cosmetic results, apply it regularly and allow enough time to observe the natural hair cycle.

Because hair develops gradually, a scalp serum should not be judged after only a few days. Supplier evaluations of the active complex assessed changes over periods ranging from two weeks for barrier measurements to eight weeks for eyebrow appearance and 90 days for scalp-density measurements.

Taking clear photographs of the same area, in the same lighting and from the same angle, can make subtle changes easier to observe.

What Exotress Is—and What It Is Not

Exotress is a cosmetic scalp serum formulated to improve the appearance and condition of the scalp and hair.

It is designed to support:

  • A healthier scalp environment
  • Better moisture retention
  • Stronger-looking hair
  • Improved visible density
  • Fuller-looking areas
  • Greater shine and luster
  • More resilient-feeling strands

It is not a medication and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent alopecia, hormonal disorders, thyroid disease, nutritional deficiency, or another medical condition.

Sudden hair loss, patchy bald areas, scalp pain, sores, severe itching, or dramatic shedding should be discussed with a qualified healthcare professional.

That distinction does not lessen the value of cosmetic scalp care. It simply ensures that consumers understand what the product is designed to do.

Plant Biotechnology Meets Cosmetic Chemistry

Morganna’s Alchemy has always believed that nature and science should not be presented as opposites.

A botanical ingredient can be natural and technologically advanced. A product can be gentle while still being formulated around measurable biological pathways. Plant science can be sophisticated without abandoning the principles of responsible cosmetic formulation.

The active complex used in Exotress is listed as COSMOS approved and suitable for use in products seeking ECOCERT natural certification. The supplier also identifies it as water-soluble and suitable for leave-on scalp treatments.

For Morganna’s Alchemy, that makes the ingredient especially meaningful. It reflects our commitment to combining modern biotechnology with carefully selected, naturally derived materials.

The Exotress Philosophy: Defend the Roots

Hair thinning often makes people focus on what they are losing.

Exotress is about changing that focus.

It is about caring for what remains.

It is about strengthening the foundation.

It is about treating the scalp with the same respect given to facial skin.

And it is about supporting the natural processes that help hair look fuller, stronger, shinier, and more alive.

Morganna’s Exotress combines mallow plant exosomes and rice protein to care for the scalp, support the hair-growth environment, reinforce the moisture barrier, and improve the appearance of hair density and strength.

Because healthier-looking hair does not begin at the ends.

It begins at the roots.
